Miramare Resort & Spa

We stayed at the Miramare in September 2024. It is a lovely hotel and the staff are mostly very friendly. The room was slightly more tired than it looks on the pictures. Good points: - Beach is a 5 minute walk away - The grounds are lovely and well cared for. - The grounds are on a steep hill, but the lift makes it easy and we were helped up and down with luggage by staff in a golf cart. - Location is excellent, around a 20 minute walk into Agios Nikoloas town with or a cheap taxi (four euros more or less). Not so good points. - The dining room didn't have air conditioning, which made it a little uncomfortable. - The part that did sour the experience of the hotel was a particular waiter, who for unknown reasons was just very rude. Yiannis was fairly rude on one occasion when we asked to move by the window as it was hot; he abruptly said no, as he had just set up those tables. Over the next few days he continued to be very abrupt, telling us we couldn't pay by card for drinks, before another staff member corrected this. One night was the worst, he spoke only in Greek. When we asked if he could speak in English, as we didn't understand, he very seriously said no and that we're in Greece, we should speak Greek. I queried this with another waiter who apologised for his colleague and said "he can be like that". It's difficult to describe, but we could tell he was not having a joke with us. We also always make an effort with the language, at least 'hello', 'please' and 'thank you'. It did sour the experience of the hotel to be treated so rudely when we'd paid a lot to go and for absolutely no reason at all. Other staff in the dining room were all really pleasant and friendly. Other than this, it is a nice hotel in a good location; the rooms could just do with a little updating.

Me and my family have just come back from Miramare. We all loved it! Got there very late and were pleasantly surprised to still have food available. Loved the buggy ride to our room and the staff were very welcoming! We were All Inclusive and loved the food. We tried different things and thought it was great that drinks were brought to our table! Deserts were great as they can sometimes be a disappointment! Loved the Pistachio ice-cream and mini strawberry tarts. We loved the Aegean pool and I like the fact that there weren’t too many sunbeds. Good quality, branded drinks available all day! Great views and enjoyed walking into Agios Nikolai. We loved the boat trip to Spinalonga and a swim in the sea. The staff and guests were very friendly on the whole and we chatted to people from different places! We fed the white cat with cancer on his nose and ears. He seemed to like Whiskas biscuits and small tins. The cat lady (Veronica) sits on a desk in the reception area and is always happy to talk about the cats. Overall, a great holiday and would love to go back there!

Beautiful resort, all staff lovelly and willing to help. Food amazing and all the amienities perfect. Close enough to beaches and towns to walk even in August heat.

Just back from a week at the Miramare, we arrived around 10:45pm and after dropping the cases at the room, the hotel had kept the restaurant open with some food available for us which is greatly appreciated, though a little disappointing that when we tried to a get a drink we were told All Inclusive finished at 11pm so had to pay. Not the end of the world, but a little disappointing first impression. Also, the transfer with TUI stated 50 minutes when we booked, it definitely is not. Arriving we were the 7th Stop on the coach and it took around 2hrs, which the rep said was down to the number of stops and roadworks on the island. Heading back it was around 1hr 40mins. If we were to return again, I would book a private transfer which when I looked was around 120euroes each way, but worth it especially if arriving late after travelling most of the day. We stayed in room 646, with a private pool which we used every day. Stunning location, views wherever you are in the hotel are amazing. Food was really good/fresh and tasteful, some people commented that it was the same every day, but I did not feel this was the case. They varied the meat offers each day, yes the breakfast was the same, but what do you expect for breakfast? It seemed to cover everything I would expect with cooked options, fruit, yogurts, pancakes etc.. Only small complaint (which was not enough for me to raise with the hotel) with our room, was we were next door to the cleaning storeroom. So at around 7:15am every day, they would have a van reverse up (with bleepers going) to drop off clean linen. Also most days when we returned to the room, there were bin bags in front of our room with dirty laundry (presumably) waiting to be collected and our window sill also often had used Wine Bottles/glasses left on it, presumably which the cleaners had collected up from other rooms. If we went again, we would probably not go all inclusive next time as I felt the snack bar options were very limited, only a few cake type things and the odd Cheese Roll. Previously holidays elsewhere when we've been out for a few hours and missed lunch, snack bars have been fine to use, but this was not really the case for us here. Also, they offer a Greek Themed Night as a cost option where you then pay for drinks also, which we did which was great, plus the use of the a-la-carte restaurant for one evening if all inclusive. The Greek Night was good, but it did not feel right being in the same resort, all inclusive but being expected to pay for drinks/food. We also used the hotel contact (not the Tui rep) to book at day trip on the catamaran. It was an expensive trip at 140euros per person, but was a brilliant day, around 4.5/5hrs in total, crew were brilliant and nice food, open bar included. Another minor issue, we booked at the hotel in the morning, paid the deposit to go that afternoon as they had space, arrived at the marina as instructed and they had no details of us coming. This is a bizarre place. Could give this 5 stars for the staff who are really attentive and friendly with an added sense of humour. The food also is good with no complaints. Their Cretian night also really good. But bizarrely, they must want guests to go to their rooms early so they don't take advantage of the all inclusive although you need at least 48 hours to get your head around the 3 different levels of all inclusive and which one you are. The entertainment is entertaining because it is so depressingly awful. Despite previous trip advisor reviews about the entertainment, the management must like seeing guests walking away in boredom as the piano starts up again as at least they're not drinking. Regarding the Cretian night, this is an extra charge which is worth it because the food, live music and dancing is really good. But, irrelevant of all inclusive level, drinks are extra. All this does is make the guests go to the main bar in their droves once they have ate leaving the dancers and band playing to a handful of people. It just doesn't make sense why the hotel run it this way. There are 3 pools and not always adequate sun beds, people get up early to reserve beds so if you want a lie in, forget it. It's a shame about the drinks policy and entertainment as the hotel has so much to offer, credit to the staff.
