So, where to start. The staff definitely make this place special. They are all very friendly and did so much to make our stay a truly wonderful one. From the moment we arrived to the morning we left they all showed us nothing but kindness, and nothing was too much trouble. The hotel is perfectly placed for the short walk into Agios Nikolaos. There are also two beaches within easy walking distance. We had a pool room with a sea view, but discovered it was very public as there was a walkway right in front of it and very little shade. I requested a parasol but unfortunately this wasn’t available due to the high winds. Instead we were upgraded to a beautiful suite which was much more private and offered plenty of shade all day. We opted for All inclusive Premium (Gold Band) because we wanted the convenience of not worrying about paying for extras. We did get some extra types of drinks, including bottles of wine with A la carte meals every night if you’d like it (and for us, it was entirely worth it), a free massage each, room service, mini bar topped up every day, free safe and theme nights all included. The problem is the scheme is very confusing and some drinks aren’t included particularly a Mojito which is my personal favourite. It’s confusing because there are several tiers of Accommodation. Bed and Breakfast, half board, all inclusive and all inclusive premium. The food and drinks menus are marked with White and Gold flags to indicate which drinks were included for each category and quite frankly it makes no sense. I my opinion to simplify the packages all normally available cocktails should be included if you’ve paided for all inclusive irrespective of what colour band you have paid for. Then maybe have branded drinks for the highest band. The entertainment can only be described as poor I’m afraid, it’s a mixture of some of the worst piano playing and singing we’ve ever heard. However the Cretan evening was excellent. It was a supplement plus drinks for all other boards but included in the Gold Band. This in itself made the upgrade worth it. The rooms are a little dated, ours had a stereo with a cassette player built in, but again, they were well appointed and the toiletries were excellent quality. There were areas of the public spaces that have some issues with missing or broken fixtures. This is particularly important as there are some very steep drop off and stairways. The pools are cleaned regularly but along with the sun beds and parasols could do with upgrades. The food was ok, pretty standard fare for all inclusive these days. We especially enjoyed breakfast and the A la carte restaurant, and the views were breathtaking from all areas of the hotel. We spent all week gazing out to sea, and it’s not anything we’ll forget anytime soon. The staff, the views, the whole experience, we would return. The only major caution we’d add is that you do need to have a reasonable level of walking ability to get around. There are a few lifts
